International conference "Creative industries as a driver for positive social changes" - kick off

In the focus of the initiative “Creative industries as a driver for positive social changes” are innovative, capacity building and development actions that will bring together cultural operators and young people from the Balkan region. Namely, across the world the arts and cultural sector makes valuable and significant contributions to social, economic and development needs as well as the wellbeing of society as a whole. This project was initiated because project partners recognized that cultural exchange and acknowledgment of cultural diversities can lead to greater tolerance, political solutions, and more creative artistic results and finally bring humanity under one umbrella. Moreover, we strongly believe that culture is an essential component of young people’s development, that it represents a source of identity, innovation and creativity for individuals and groups and it is an important factor for positive social changes as social inclusion, poverty eradication or providing for sustainable economic growth. To put in nutshell, the project has interdisciplinary undertake by involving the young population as catalyzer for social change through cultural interventions, particularly drawing from the successful experiences of creative industries.

Aim and objectives: 

The main aim of the project is to foster creativity and diversity of cultural expressions among young people inspiring them to be drivers for positive social changes and development by creative industries. We strongly believe that on the shoulders of young people and their limitless creativity potential lay the foundations for vibrant, innovative and prosperous societies. 

Specific objectives: 

-Analysis and detecting exemplary models of good practices for creative industries for positive social changes in the Balkan region;

-Encouraging and supporting young people in accessing and practicing creative industries as opportunities for positive changes and development of the societies in the region;  

-Greater involvement of female participation in the cultural and creative sphere, by giving greater visibility of female artists and activists;

-Promoting a partnership approach to work in the area of creative industries and creating linkages among appropriate cultural actors, NGOs, nonprofit organizations, experts, and centers of expertise;

-Publishing booklet of best practices and good examples of creative industries in the region that will serve as inspirational tool for further positive changes in the society.
