The main project theme was multiculturalism as our treasure not as a division factor in order to promote innovative way of presenting multiculturalism by the young people – participants.
Main project objective
The project was aimed to create conditions for sustainable inter-ethnic dialogue by encouraging intercultural learning and communication between young people from secondary schools outside of the educational process in order to promote tolerant, safe and coherent life in the community.
Main project activities
Grounds for our activities was the work of an amateur theater group founded by pupils of "Naum Naumovski Borce" – Krusevo secondary school. Students of all ethnic groups represented in the municipality worked together in that theater group. Before being included in the project INTEGRA young people in this theater group had several performances for domestic audiences as well as several international appearances.
Our activities were focused on creating a mutual theatrical performance which was prepared by interested students from all secondary schools and cities included in the project while in this theater performance students from Krusevo had a chance to transfer their experience and knowledge to the other participants. The topic of the theater play was chosen from everyday life of young people with emphasize on the inter-ethnic dialogue. For this purpose, the participants made modern version of the famous old drama "Begalka" written by Vasil Iljoski into "Lence Kumanovce".
The social difference which dominates in "Begalka" was replaced by interethnic difference between two high school students (Albanian boy and Macedonian girl) who are in love and this love is supported by their friends from different ethnic background (Vlachs, Turks, Albanians, Bosnians) against the girl’s parents. The prepared theater play was performed for a big audience in the House of Culture in Kumanovo.
